Company: Kelsius
Industry: Temperature Monitoring & Compliance Technology
Location: Donegal, Ireland
Founded in 2002, Kelsius has grown from a R&D-focused startup into one of Europe’s leading providers of wireless temperature monitoring and digital compliance systems. Today, the company designs, manufactures, installs, and supports its own hardware and software solutions, serving customers globally across healthcare, pharmaceuticals, food retail, and hospitality.
At the core of Kelsius’ offering is its data-driven platform, enabling organisations to monitor and safeguard temperature-sensitive products such as food, blood, and medicines, helping ensure safety, compliance, and operational efficiency.
Like many companies in the West of Ireland, access to early-stage capital and support for international scaling played an important role in unlocking Kelsius’ growth potential.
The Western Development Commission has supported Kelsius at two key stages of its development:
- Early-stage support: An initial equity investment helped the company evolve from a research-led operation into a commercially focused business.
- Growth-stage funding: More recently, WDC provided a loan facility to support the next phase of Kelsius’ global expansion strategy.
The Western Development Commission were an early supporter of Kelsius’ by taking an equity stake in the business and providing that early financing to get the business off the ground. Now, 22 years later they're here again with us to fund the next stage of our global growth strategy and providing a loan facility to do so
