CEO of the WDC Tomás Ó Síocháin discusses Remote Working in our new podcast. The world changed completely last March when then Taoiseach Leo Varadkar announced a national lockdown. In response to Covid19 Ireland embraced a new way of living – and working.
Since then, hundreds of thousands of us have been getting to grips with the competing demands of home life, work life and finding a balance between the two as the disruption caused by the global pandemic continues to upend our economy.
Remote Working is now a reality for many people across Ireland. But while there have undoubtedly been hiccups and challenges for some workers, this more flexible way of working does present many opportunities, particularly for developing employment options in the West of Ireland.
Communication is also changing and that is why we are bringing you a brand-new podcast called Pulse of The West. The podcast will bring you regular stories and insights from the WDC along with opinions and views from figures in business, media, and culture, all with a focus on the Western region and its prospects.
In this first episode, called ‘The Remote Reset’, the CEO of the Western Development Commission Tomás Ó Síocháin discusses the Remote Working revolution with special guests, Barry O’Sullivan, EVP of Genesys and star of RTE’s Dragon’s Den, Tracey Keogh of Grow Remote Ireland and Siobhan Curtin, Head of Customer Experience, eBay.
Tomás and his guests analyse the seismic impact that the Covid19 pandemic has had on our working and home lives and gets insights from his guests about the effect on employers and employees.
As more and more people get used to the idea of working from home, Pulse Of The West debates the opportunities that Remote Working offers the West of Ireland and asks what can be done to enhance this new flexible way of life.
The podcast also hears from employers such as Keith Moran, MD of tech and engineering company SL Controls, on how the pandemic – and Remote Working – has altered the outlook of the company with some very surprising results.
We hope you enjoy Pulse Of The West. You can listen to it on our podcast page or you can download it from wherever you get your podcasts.
