LECo is a 3 year, €1.95m NPA funded project which aims to enable communities to become self sufficient with regard to energy production and consumption, and also to bring together the combined experience, knowledge and expertise of the project partners and provide conditions for the creation of energy self-sufficient Local Energy Communities. The WDC developed the online training platform localenergycommunities.net which is available to all communities in the NPA region, and allows access to information that will help at every development stage of a community energy project. Supports were enabled in three communities for renewable energy feasibility studies; 30 community members were trained in EnergyPLAN which is an energy modelling tool; and two study trips were completed to Germany which enabled significant transnational learning and training.
