The Western Development Commission has today announced that Tomás Ó Síocháin has decided to step down as Chief Executive Officer. Tomás will continue in his role until December of this year before taking up a new role as CEO | Príomhfheidhmeannach of Údarás na Gaeltachta in early 2023.

Commenting on today’s announcement, Gerry Finn Chairman of the board at the Western Development Commission said. “On behalf of the board and the WDC staff, I would like to thank Tomás for his dedication, commitment, and perseverance over the past four years. Tomás’s tenure as CEO of the WDC has been transformational and we wish him every success in his next role as CEO of Údarás na Gaeltachta.

Tomás Ó Síocháin commented “I consider myself very fortunate to have spent the last four years working for the betterment of the region where I grew up and live, the region that I believe to be the best place in the world. I am hugely proud of the work of the WDC during my time and with the fantastic WDC management team and staff cohort now in place I believe much more is to come. I would also like to thank the board for their support during my time as CEO. I now see many opportunities for collaboration between the two organisations as we work towards the betterment of our collective region.”

The appointment of a new CEO and any interim arrangements from December on will be announced in due time.
