Project Description

GH2M stands for “Accelerating the Deployment of Green Hydrogen Mobility in EU Regions.” This initiative focuses on reducing CO2 emissions by integrating green hydrogen within the transportation sector, which accounts for about 25% of total emissions in the EU-27. The project emphasizes overcoming the challenges of decarbonizing hard-to-electrify areas and reducing regional disparities in green technology adoption.

Project Actions

GH2M focuses on several key actions to promote the integration of green hydrogen in mobility:

  1. Policy Learning and Capacity Building: Partners will engage in joint learning to develop and improve regional policies that support green hydrogen technologies.
  2. Infrastructure Development: Strategic planning and development of hydrogen refueling infrastructure to support a range of hydrogen-powered vehicles.
  3. Integration of Mobility Applications: Ensuring that hydrogen mobility solutions are well integrated with the networks for the production and distribution of green hydrogen and renewable energy.
  4. Deployment in Various Transport Modes: Accelerating the use of hydrogen in urban transport, heavy-duty vehicles like buses and trucks, and other end-use applications such as rail and marine.

Project Results

GH2M aims to deliver transformative impacts:

  • Improved Regional Policies: Enhanced strategies and policies to foster the use of green hydrogen in the transportation sector.
  • Expanded Hydrogen Infrastructure: Effective roll-out of hydrogen refueling stations and related infrastructure across participating regions.
  • Knowledge Exchange and Dissemination: Sharing insights and best practices to encourage widespread adoption of hydrogen technologies.

This project not only supports the EU’s 2050 climate neutrality goals but also aims to catalyze economic growth through innovative green technologies.
