Project Description

The main aim of the ASTRIC project is to rapidly demonstrate the METRIC tool, which measures and enhances the innovation capacity of ecosystems, as part of the Interreg Northern Periphery and Arctic Programme.

Vibrant regional innovation ecosystems serve as attractors for talent and skills, a shared need across regions. In addition to boosting regional competitiveness, innovation ecosystems generate a trickle-down effect that benefits everyone. Measuring the capacity of these ecosystems is crucial, as it provides quantifiable data to assess their current state and identify areas for improvement. While policymakers are the primary target group, these measurements can also guide public and private bodies to align their efforts for the greater good.

Developed by Region Västerbotten, the METRIC tool is currently undergoing further development. Key stakeholders are involved in selecting indicators for rapid demonstrations, based on regional relevance and data availability. A systematic approach to adapting and transferring METRIC will be included in the action plan for full-scale measurement and communication. Throughout the project, capacity to evaluate innovation ecosystems will be strengthened.
